In Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak (MHR Sunbreak), players get to fight the quick and hard-hitting menace, Scorned Magnamalo. Although it uses a lot of familiar moves, this master rank monster is capable of unleashing one-hit attacks from varying ranges. Being the top monster of the game, Scorned Magnamalo has a lot of heavy hitting attacks that can instantly cart any unprepared hunter. These attacks often occur when the camera zooms out to give you a better view of Magnamalo. Use this cue and either dive or steer clear of Scorned Magnamalo. Also, upgrade your armor to the highest possible level and equip decorations that grant you resistance against Dragon and/or Fire elements. You can also make use of Defense decorations to increase your chances of surviving Scorned Magnamalo’s attacks.
Aside from doing one-hit strikes, Scorned Magnamalo now also does most of its moves twice to make sure hunters stay down. Again, make sure to stop for a second if you get hit by the first attack before you rise up as chances are, Scorned Magnamalo is going to strike again. Also, when enraged, Scorned Magnamalo does some attacks thrice!
As always, Wyvern Riding is somewhat essential in a difficult fight like this one. Scorned Magnamalo has a high HP pool and using other monsters in the field greatly helps in reducing it. In addition, Mounted Punishers can safely down Scorned Magnamalo, allowing you time to destroy parts and deal more serious damage. Oh, and you also get some sweet shinies!
Scorned Magnamalo is hyper-aggressive and will constantly attack any hunter it sees. With its speed and flurry of attacks, it can be quite difficult to land some hits. Always play safe and study its moves so you can learn how to time dodges. Being immobile can also be difficult as just guarding can leave you very vulnerable to its hard-hitting attacks. Try to go in circles around it and just observe. Scorned Magnamalo usually has a few seconds of opening after it attacks so watch out for these opportunities!
If it’s your first couple of tries against Scorned Magnamalo, there’s no shame in cutting the fight short by capturing it. Scorned Magnamalo is not an Elder Dragon and traps like Pitfall and Shock Traps work against it. You may use these traps to keep it immobile and then use it again later to capture it and quickly end the fight.
Scorned Magnamalo is very weak against Water and is also weak against Thunder. Ice Element also works to a limited degree. Be sure to bring weapons with these elements before jumping in to fight it!
For status ailments, best bring weapons that can stun as it is highly effective against Scorned Magnamalo. Other status effects, like blights, also work against this monster.
