Warzone 2 How To Do Takedowns Guide

In Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 (CODMW2 2022), players can perform takedowns to defeat and humiliate opponents. Get to know how to do takedowns, tips, and more using this guide.

Warzone 2 How To Do Takedowns

Approach The Enemy From Behind

The first step to do in a takedown is to approach an enemy from behind. Note that if the enemy looks at you, you won’t be able to perform a takedown. Be silent and creep up an enemy first to prepare for the next step.

Use Melee Attack

Approach an enemy from behind

To successfully perform a takedown, once you are behind an enemy, press the melee button. If successful, your character will perform an execution animation which gloriously (or gorily) eliminates your target. Be patient and if you fail to execute a takedown, just spam melee to ensure a double tap and at least kill your enemy with two smacks.

Warzone 2 Takedowns – Tips

Don’t Bring A Knife

Bringing a Throwable Knife or a Combat Knife removes the ability of doing a takedown. When you have either or both equipped, your character will use the knife instead. This then results with you killing the enemy instantly, robbing you of that cinematic melee attack.

May Backfire On You

While it may be tempting to perform, doing a takedown carries a significant risk. Once an enemy turns around, you’re likely to drop down instead of the other way around. Be careful when trying to perform a takedown and weigh the risks. Also worth noting is that you are still vulnerable during a takedown and you can still be shot down. Bring some stuns or smoke to at least make it easier to sneak and backstab your opponents.

More Warzone 2 / Modern Warfare 2 Takedowns In The Future

In Modern Warfare 2019, new takedowns were introduced together with the Battle Pass system. This may happen again in Modern Warfare 2 and we may see new cool and exciting takedowns packaged in the Battle Pass. Also, the in-game store may offer some of these moves in the future, allowing you to use takedowns using different operators.
