Reinhardt Wilhelm styles himself as a champion of a bygone age, who lives by the knightly code of valor, justice, and courage.
When it comes to tanks in Overwatch, most would think of someone like Reinhardt. With a kit built around taking damage and protecting teammates, this guy is one hell of a tank. Although Reinhardt also has offensive skills, they can be pretty hard to land from afar. His best ability, Charge, is (in)famous for its creation of impressive (and sometimes depressing) plays.
Reinhardt Wilhelm lives by the knightly codes of valor, justice, and courage. One of the founders of Overwatch, for decades he was a force for good the world over. After the organization’s fall, he travelled Europe like a knight of old, defending the innocent alongside his squire, Brigitte, until Winston’s call brought them back into the arms of Overwatch.
Rocket Hammer | Devastating melee weapon. |
Earthshatter | Knock down all enemies in front of you. |
Charge | Charge forward and smash an enemy against a wall. |
Fire Strike | Launch a fiery projectile. |
Barrier Field | Hold to deploy a frontal energy barrier. |
Role: Tank | Reduces knockbacks received. Less ultimate generated by healing and damage received. |
Reinhardt’s Barrier Field allows you to block incoming damage for your team. This also makes it easier to advance slowly to take ground. Make good use of it and try to recharge it from time to time. When out of shield charges, inform your team so they can make it to cover before you turn it off.
The stuff of legends, Reinhardt’s Charge can turn the fight to either your team’s or the enemy’s favor. Single out targets and charge only when you are sure you can pick off an enemy or make a good play. Charging is also a good way to distract the enemy team for your damage dealers. Note that you’ll very likely expose yourself to damage if you plunge deep into the enemy lines.
Earthshatter is Reinhardt’s ultimate and it temporarily stuns and roots enemies in place for a few seconds. These few seconds can be incredibly precious if used well. To easily land Earthshatter, look for narrow points or areas where enemies are more than likely to converge so you can easily land it and get a couple of kills for your team.
