Zarya is one of the world’s strongest women, a celebrated athlete who sacrificed personal glory to protect her family, friends, and country in a time of war.
If you want to annoy enemies as a tank, Zarya is a very viable choice. The more the enemy pummels her or her chosen teammate, the more she gains charges to empower her attacks. However, Zarya relies heavily on her barrier, so much so that without it, her role as a tank diminishes greatly.
Growing up surrounded by the post-war destruction of the Omnic Crisis, Zarya became a champion weightlifter and used her strength and fame to help her nation rebuild. Now, she has sacrificed personal glory to protect her people on the front lines of a war against a deadly new mechanical threat.
Particle Cannon | Short-range linear beam weapon. |
Particle Cannon Alt | Energy grenade launcher. |
Graviton Surge | Launch a gravity well that pulls enemies to it. |
Particle Barrier | Create a damage barrier around you. |
Projected Barrier | Create a damage barrier around an ally. |
Energy | Damage blocked by barriers increases Particle Cannon damage. |
Role: Tank | Reduces knockbacks received. Less ultimate generated by healing and damage received. |
Zarya’s Particle Cannon charges up whenever she or an ally receives damage while the barrier is online. Use the barriers if you plan on charging into the enemy team or to defend an ailing teammate. If you gain enough charge, Zarya’s Particle Cannon becomes incredibly devastating to even tanks.
Graviton Surge is an ultimate that can change the course of a match. When used, the shot pulls in enemies, leaving them vulnerable to AoE attacks like Zarya’s alt fire. Try to find opportunities to use it and make sure that you can maximize it by having teammates nearby to deal more damage.
