PayMaya is evolving from just being an e-wallet platform into a one-stop-shop banking app for payments, savings, crypto, and even credit. This allows its users to enjoy everything money-related all in one app.
The new Maya banking app now comes with a slew of improvements and new features:
- Maya Savings – a savings account with an introductory interest rate of 6% until August 31, 2022 – among the highest offered of a local bank. It is powered by the BSP-licensed digital bank Maya Bank and does not require a maintaining balance. Customers will now be able to easily move money from their main account to their Maya Savings account with just a couple of taps to start earning interest.
- Maya Credit – a virtual credit line that lets customers borrow up to PhP 15,000 within the app. The credit can be used to pay bills, buy groceries, and purchase load among many others.
- Maya Crypto – Earlier this month, PayMaya introduced crypto support and that carries over to the new Maya app. Everyone can now easily buy popular cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Tether, and more with minimum transaction fees.
- Maya Wallet – Of course, Maya will still support its e-wallet features. It can be used to pay merchants through QR or transfer money to other users. Users can also enjoy free cash-in through more than 90,000 touchpoints nationwide.
Maya will be introducing a goal-based savings account that allows everyone to set aside money for travelling or buying a first vehicle. The app will also be supporting Dark Mode soon for those who want to veer away from the traditional white look.
As a special introduction to its new identity, Maya is inviting everyone to join its Maya Early Access Challenge and get the chance to win a Maya bitcoin millionaire:
- Download the Maya app (Play Store, App Store, App Gallery)
- On the app’s home page tap the “More” button and choose “Missions” to join the Maya Early Access Challenge.
- Cash in at least PhP 100 and upgrade your account to unlock Maya Savings.
Opening a savings account via Maya will earn points for the challenge. More points can be earned whenever a mission is completed including sharing feedback, referring friends to Maya using your code, and using its features like paying bills, buying load, and more.
Users will be assigned a Maya level depending on their score:
- Maya Master – Top 5% of the users with the highest score
- Maya Enthusiast – the next 10% of users with the highest score
- Maya Explorer – the next 15% of users with the highest score
Maya Explorer-level customers will get a chance to win PhP 300,000 in Bitcoin, PhP 600,000 worth of bitcoin for Maya Enthusiasts, and PhP 1,000,000 worth of Bitcoin for Maya Masters. All participants with a Maya savings account will get a chance to win PhP 1,000,000 worth of Bitcoin.
Those who are interested in starting their Maya journey can now download the Maya app on their smartphones through Play Store, App Store, and App Gallery. Deposits of up to PhP 500,000 are insured by the BSP.
