Samsung Galaxy S10 series officially launched

-

After much anticipation, the Samsung Galaxy S10 series have been officially announced. With three variants under its belt: the Samsung Galaxy S10+, S10, and S10e, the new range of Samsung Galaxy devices is a celebration of the brand’s decade of smartphone innovation.

Samsung Galaxy S10e, S10+, and S10.

The biggest departure of the Samsung Galaxy S10 series is its front design. Instead of having rather large bezels to accommodate sensors and front-facing cameras, the newly designed punchhole screen allows the display to almost completely occupy the front portion of the smartphone.

The Infinity-O display on the S10 series is promising larger screens with a slimmer and lighter profile. Based on what we have seen so far, it seems true to its promise. The Dynamic OLED panel on the display will support brighter output, HDR10+ colors with Dynamic Tone Mapping as well as 41% less Blue light even before activating the smartphones’ Blue Light Filter.

Screen size is one of the major differences between the three S10 series. The largest of them all, the Samsung Galaxy S10+, will have a 6.4-inch 3040 x 1440 screen while the vanilla Samsung Galaxy S10 sports a 6.1-inch display. The runt, the Samsung Galaxy S10e, has a 5.8-inch screen.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 series’ display also houses the brand’s first ultrasonic under-the-display fingerprint scanner. This new fingerprint scanning technology aims to deliver a faster and better fingerprint scanning experience. Previous reports, however, points to screen protectors having negative effects to the fingerprint scanner.

The Samsung Galaxy S10e, however, will not have the brand’s ultrasonic under-the-display fingerprint scanner. Instead, it will have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Peeking out of the displays of the S10+, S10, and S10e are their cameras. The Samsung Galaxy S10+ has a more impressive setup with a dual 10MP + 8MP depth sensor dual cameras while the Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10e has a sole 10MP front-facing camera.

The Galaxy S10 series will also be the first flagship series from Samsung to have triple cameras (aside from the S10e). The triple camera setup of the Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10+ is composed of a 12MP Dual Aperture, Dual Pixel main camera, a 16MP ultrawide FF lens, and a 12MP telephoto lens that’s capable of 2x optical zoom natively.

As a more budget-oriented smartphone in the S10 series, the Samsung Galaxy S10e will only have a 12MP main camera and the 16MP ultrawide FF lens.

The multi-camera setup for the Samsung Galaxy S10 series will have True Vision Multi-Camera technology. This new feature allows the smartphone to capture UHD videos at 60fps, support HDR+ video, and SuperSteady action for sharper videos with minimal shaking at FullHD resolution.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 series will comes equipped with the brand’s latest Exynos 9820 chip based on an 8nm lthography. The brand is promising up to 33% and 37% increase in CPU and GPU performance, respectively while lowering power consumption by 15% compared to the Galaxy S9.

The Samsung Galaxy S10+, S10, and S10 are powered by 4,100mAh, 3,400mAh, and 3,100mAh batteries, respectively. They do support wireless charging as well as wireless charging.

The S10 series now also supports reverse wireless charging to provide juice to wireless charging-compatible peripherals.
