As the “Keeper of the Truth”, Azrael carries the dark burden of his chapter.As masterful commander, he quickly grasps changing battlefield realities and orchestrates his forces to maximum advantage.
As a warrior, he never falters.
Azrael calls in a Ravenwing Dark Talon to deal 1x X Direct Damage to a target enemy within 2 hexes and 6x Y Bolter Damage to all enemies in an uninterrupted straight line originating from the initial target. All enemies hit are Suppressed.
This ability’s Damage ignores all of the attacker bonuses and modifiers (including elevation), and cannot Crit.
Friendly units within 2 hexes block an additional X Damage when they Block and deal +Y Damage while firing Overwatch. Other friendly Dark Angels within 2 hexes also have their Block chance increased by +15%.
When this unit loses its last Health, it immediately performs a normal attack on an eligible target and is then defeated as normal, unless Overkilled.
If this unit has not attacked during its turn, nor after that, it attacks when an enemy moves within range during the enemy’s turn.
Azrael buffs units within Overwatch passively. Yes, he does not need to do anything but be near these friendly characters to increase their Overwatch damage. Furthermore, he also increases the Block threshold and grants more bonuses to fellow Dark Angels.
Dark Talon Strike allows Azrael to heavily damage one enemy and damage the rest. While not the best bang for the buck ability, it does scatter a good amount of damage if the target is in the middle of a mob.
Azrael is one of the ‘guaranteed’ characters in the game as you can get him via Requisition Milestones. Just get Requisitions when you can and you can save enough points to get him as a ‘pity’ hero.
