Tzarina Katarin is one of the legendary lords that you can use to play Kislev in Total War Warhammer 3. Aside from being the leader of your faction, Katarin is also a powerful magic user, capable of summoning ice to destroy your foes. Death Frost is a magic spell that you can spam to deal a decent amount of damage to a single target. Use this as much as you can specially against foes like Skarbrand or the Chaos Lord.
Ice Sheet covers the ground with ice, slowing enemy units within its area of effect. Highly effective when used with ranged units like Streltsi and Little Groms.
Another powerful magic, Heart of Winter damages and slows enemies. The spell also grows stronger with time, dealing more damage and slowing more. You can use this as an alternative to Ice Sheet or when covering your flanks or vulnerable ranged units against fast cavalry.
War Bear is a must-have skill when playing Katarina. As a caster, she can easily get pummeled by stronger lords or even monsters. Get the War Bear for better mobility and higher HP. With this mount, she can also act as a back up cavalry unit when needed.
The Khan-Queen passive greatly affects your standing among fellow Kislev factions. It adds a +10 to diplomacy and also generates +2 devotion per turn. The additional Diplomacy can be used to build up for the eventual Confederation of your neighbors. The most important of all is the additional Control. You might scoff at the +1 Control but every amount of Control helps when you get the rifts open after 30 or so turns.
Tzarina Katarin of Kislev has 2 quest battles. One to unlock a legendary lord and another to get her Crystal Cloak, a unique armor.
The Frozen Falls is an optional quest that you can unlock once you reach 85+ turns. Clearing this quest unlocks Boris Ursus, Katarin’s father. After beating the forces of Tzeentch, you can then decide to either grant Boris Ursus a new faction to control, or have him as a legendary lord. Once you clear this quest, Boris Ursus becomes available as a starting legendary lord for Kislev.

The Crystal Cloak is another optional quest and you get it once you reach Rank 10. This is a battle against Tzeentch’s demons so bring cavalry to counter the missile demons. Winning the battle nets you the Crystal Cloak, a unique armor that you should get as soon as you can as it heavily buffs Katarina with Wards and resistances.
