In Expeditions Rome, End of the Aedui is one of the more complex main story missions in the game. In this mission, you get to choose from a variety of options in order to completely conquer Gallia. These choices can be pretty hard to get and some even require a bit of footwork to solve. Want to know where to find the sickle, the bowl, or the blood required for End of the Aedui? Read this guide to know more!
In order to complete End of the Aedui, you need to have the following items for the sacrifice with Diviaticus so that he can arrange the ambush:
The above items can be pretty hard to get by but the results are too different that you are likely to choose the more difficult but infinitely better path. Note that you can get the items for both of the options but choose only one option during the decision-making time.
Also, it seems to be possible to choose the Esus path first before choosing either Toutatis or Taranis. Choosing Toutatis or Taranis before choosing the Esus path completely locks it completely as an optional approach.
Once you finish the fetch part, you then get into battle with Dumnorix. Defeating him and his men rewards you with Dumnorix’s Shield.
A life sacrifice is required by both Taranis and Toutatis. For this part, both options have glaring consequences. You have to sacrifice an innocent life in order for you to properly secure Rome’s dominion in Gaul. Here are the consequences for the two actions
You can choose the easiest option in order to appease the Gallic gods. This is by far the easiest path as you can simply walk in and get a Sickle to gouge out an eye. However, this is by far the worst of the three choices. Why? You permanently get a 0% chance to critical debuff once you sacrifice an eye. No more chances of landing critical hits until the very end of the game despite whatever item you have in your inventory.
Your character also gets an eye patch as a consequence of this choice.
The Sickle can be found in 2 ways:
Both are viable and can even net you two Sickles. And no, you don’t get a bonus for having an extra Sickle. You can easily ask it from Ambiorix by waltzing into his cave, Eburones Cave, the one near the southwestern part of the map, and getting it from him via conversation. Afterwards, you need to eliminate or remove the tribesmen beside the river to cleanse it. The other method involves defeating Ambiorix in the main story mission, Ambiorix’s Warning.
To craft the bowl needed for the sacrifice, you must collect materials for it in the Sacred Grove. If you have the Pathos rhetorical style, you can go through this without spilling a single drop of blood. Once you are done with the confrontation, head towards the branch to extract the Sacred Oak needed for the bowl. Afterwards, head to Sextus in your legion camp and have him craft the bowl needed for the sacrifice.
For the safer route, the blood can be had by talking to the butcher in the Lugdunensis Village. You can talk to him provided that you saved his son from the angry legionnaire during the quest In This Mess.
On the other hand, if you can’t be bothered to get the blood, you need to sacrifice a slave or praetorian for it. Sacrificing a slave does not inflict any negative approval, it even grants you an approval boost from Classist praetorians! Sacrificing a praetorian incurs a severe negative hit to their approval of you.
The oil can be purchased from Sextus at your Legion Camp. This requires 1,000 denarii.
For the Elm you need for the sacrifice, you need to go to the Elm Forest to get the wood. The Elm Patch is located at the western part of the map. Once you approach the elm tree, a group of Gauls will come in to confront you. Don’t worry as you can talk your way through this encounter by mentioning that you don’t want any trouble and that you are just looking for a sacrifice to Toutatis.
