In Expeditions Rome, 2 quests require you to find a poison to solve problems easily. These quests are: Divide and Conquer, and Whack the Mole. So where do you find this elusive poison? Here’s the guide and walkthrough that you need to pinpoint the poison and how to use it!
The poison can be acquired in a tiny village up north named, Troas. You can acquire it from a merchant named Theodoros that sells it for 400 denarii.
Troas is a bit far from your initial landing place and it is highly suggested that you go there once you reach Level 3 or higher.
Bay Leaf Poison Miscellaneous |
A large amount of bay leaves, purchased from a fisherman. You’ve been informed they’re quite poisonous in large quantities. |
Once you get the poison, you then get to be confronted with a dilemma. Where do you use it? Two options are available and both have varying rewards and consequences. Ultimately, the poison makes it easy to complete these quests as they do away with the combat. Mostly. So, on which quest can you make the most of this one-shot poison?
Quest: Whack The Mole
You can immediately put the poison to good in use in Troas as Cassius can be hunted down there. You can use the bay leaf poison by interacting with the food near Cassius’ main location. After a short cutscene, all of Cassius’ men will be inflicted with poison, reducing their HP continuously for the duration of the fight.
It is not recommended to use it here as you start near Cassius and can quickly dispatch him to end the fight. You don’t need to bother with his henchmen hence rendering the poison useless. You only need to make a beeline to him and defeat him as soon as you can to end the fight.
Quest: Divide and Conquer
Probably where you have to use the Bay Leaf Poison. Theophilus is heavily armed and is guarded with formidable units. Slipping in the poison clears this difficult quest without any worry. However, you have to have 1,000 denarii at hand to bribe his servant, Rhianus (better deal if you have Pathos as your rhetorical style). You also have to say goodbye to the rewards and loots that the other options can give you if you complete the quest with this route.
Once convinced, the servant takes the Bay Leaf Poison and allows Theophilus to drink it off-screen. This clears the mission and grants control of the temple to the Romans.
