The Spear of Achilles is a unique weapon that can be found in the first Act of Expeditions Rome. It can be a pretty handy weapon if used by a competent warrior. Get to know how to get it and what it does with this handy guide!
To get the Spear of Achilles, you must collect 3 clues to trigger the events. You also have to do them in sequence. Note that this is entirely optional, but getting the Spear of Achilles can be advantageous when used properly.
Symbol of the Warrior Stone Tablet This smooth stone tablet contains a long inscription, etched with tiny Greek symbols: “Heroes and legends are made and unmade, but there is one man whose light will not fade. Gods blessed him with invulnerability as an infant. Guarding his memory is our sacred commitment. On a peninsula east of Troas where he fought and fell, find our symbol on a statue with a story to tell.” |
The Symbol of the Warrior Stone Tablet can be had by interacting with the tree in front of the highest villa in Troas. This is the first step of the clue and you only need to follow its directions to get the next ones.
Symbol of the Warrior Brooch A delicate brooch opens to reveal the following short inscription: “Turn south if our guidance is what you seek. Cross the channel and search the beach. His weapon is within your reach.” |
The second clue location is located on a peninsula just directly east of Troas. Head towards it to trigger an encounter to get the Symbol of the Warrior Brooch.
Symbol of the Warrior Papyrus Greek symbols written in a delicate hand dance across this papyrus scroll: “At Troy when the warrior fell in the siege, he was buried within the city’s reach. It is said he was laid to rest near the waves, beyond a mountain peak shielding his grave. Our warrior rests overlooking the sea, gazing west at his birthing place of Thessaly.” |
The third and final clue can be found just south of Mytilene. Cross the channel from the mainland and head south to the beach to trigger an encounter to get the Symbol of the Warrior Papyrus.
To get the Spear of Achilles, cross the channel and head north of the Troas legion campsite, not Troas the town. Once you reach that location, you will then be prompted to get into the tomb to get the spear. There are no enemies in this location so bring anyone into the tomb. Loot the tomb’s surrounding boxes and interact with the tomb itself to get the Spear of Achilles.
The Spear of Achilles grants the Reaper status effect, refreshing action points whenever the character kills. No need for criticals, just plain kills would be enough to refresh action points. Incredibly helpful if you want to take advantage of the Veles’ assassination skills for a first turn wipe.
Note that you can still upgrade the Spear of Achilles in the next acts. It scales well and you can still use it in the latter parts of the game.
