The Aqueduct is a side quest in Expeditions Rome that introduces a moral dilemma. In this quest, you either have to betray Rome to appease your new allies or side with Rome and bring the barbarians to heel. Both choices have consequences and rewards. So, what should you do? Should you attack the Romans or Meddur’s warriors?

How To Get The Aqueduct Side Quest

Talk To Meddur In The Court Of Heaven

After your initial visit to the Court of Heaven and finishing the Strange Alliances story mission, you can talk to Meddur again to get this side quest. The Aqueduct is just nearby and won’t take you too long to reach from the Court of Heaven.

Talking to the Princeps guarding the construction site, you can decide if you want to push through with dealing with the guards or turning against Meddur’s Men. If you want to side with the Romans, head back up the hill and talk to Gwafa to deal with him and his men.

Rewards For Defending The Aqueduct

After risking life and limb for defending Roman interests in the region, you receive 2,000 denarii for your troubles. And gratitude from the guard for defending their camp. You also get the ire of Meddur. Friendship over.

Going with Meddur’s side puts you in direct conflict with the Romans guarding the aqueduct. The fight can be a bit difficult here if you come in unprepared or without Pila against their shields. Make use of the initial starting positions and rain down fire or poison to block out routes where reinforcements from the back can pour in.

You Get Meddur’s Shield For Siding With Meddur

Aside from the feeling of betraying the great Roman Republic? You get Meddur’s unique shield. Probably the better choice since you get a unique shield that can deflect melee attacks.
