In Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, players get to encounter Daemonhosts, powerful possesed that are incredibly powerful. Get to know what a Daemonhost is in Darktide, how to beat them, tips, rewards, and more using this guide.
Darktide is currently in beta. This guide may change once the game officially releases on the 30th of November.
Unfortunately, the only reliable way to keep you and your team alive against a Daemonhost is to block its attacks. A Daemonhost attacks aggressively which then constantly drains stamina if you try to block it. A reliable way to keep it at bay and to keep your team alive is to block it with an Ogryn Slab Shield. However, this may take some work as the Ogryn must be the one to trigger and spawn the Daemonhost.
If you fancy having your whole team alive and intact, simply skipping a Daemonhost may work. You can take an alternate route or advance while keeping distance. Note that this may not be possible in some occasions and you may be forced to fight one to advance.
For beating a Daemonhost, like completely pummeling it and not allowing it to escape, you and your whole team get the “Banisher” Hidden Achievement. If you find yourself downed during the fight, don’t worry as you also get this even after you’ve watched your teammates do most of the work.
When awakened, Daemonhosts target the player that triggered them. After killing the first player, the Daemonhost then moves to the nearest player. You can make use of its aggro to carefully spawn it and eliminate it by using the Ogryn Slab Shield method to withstand its damage and nail it in place.
A behavior we’ve observed in recent games is that a Daemonhost leaves after killing two players. Once a player gets down, a Daemonhost then proceeds to devour the downed player. The downed player will respawn but must be rescued first in order to move. After doing the same to its second victim, a Daemonhost just vanishes, leaving a party with only half of its members intact.
While fighting a Daemonhost, it is important to remember that the longer you fight it, the more corruption you get. Make sure to eliminate other enemies in the area first when fighting it as a Daemonhost can be pretty damaging if fought with other enemies at the same time. This corruption can be healed using a Medicae Station.
Daemonhosts can be triggered by firing at it. Not only that but it also looks like splash damage, like ones from Bolters and explosions from Grenades can also trigger a Daemonhost. Even if you are at a safe distance, a Daemonhost will teleport to whoever awakened it. Be wary of your surroundings and watch out for the possessed body when entering an area.
