Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters feature a number of classes that players can use to defeat the forces of Chaos. One of these classes is the Chaplain, a tanky support that uses Litanies to provide team-wide buffs. These buffs can be incredibly powerful when used well with the abilities of the other classes. How do you get the Chaplain in Chaos Gate? What are good skills to get for it? Read this guide to know more.

In an in-game event, Grand Master Kai will contact you and reward you with an advanced class of your choosing. You can select the Chaplain here to get it without being at the mercy of random mission rewards.
You can view mission rewards beforehand to see if they will reward you with a Chaplain. Check often when missions spawn as you may see other advanced classes as mission rewards. Just be prepared to spend a 2 or 3 Requisition points to get the Chaplain using this method.
Knight Requisition affects the spawn rate of advanced classes in the game. Upgrade them when you can if you want more of the rarer classes to appear.
Chaplains are locked only to Terminator Armor and cannot use the typical Space Marine Power Armor. With that said, they can be pretty tough given the proper stats. While not as tanky as the Paladin, the Chaplain can still hold its own in a tough firefight.
Only the Chaplain can use the Crozius Arcanum. This melee weapon inflicts heavy damage with status ailments to those unlucky enough to be at the receiving end. Add this to the Chaplain’s durability due to the Terminator Armor and you can have him hit foes left and right to inflict debilitating status ailments.
The Chaplain’s Litanies is what makes it unique from the other classes. They are team-wide buffs that can are passive or will trigger when certain conditions are met. And the bonuses that they grant are ridiculous.
Casting Litanies take 1 AP and can be used multiple times in a single turn. You can combo it and change it depending on what strategy you wish to employ during your turn. For example, if you’re going to attack with criticals, use Words of Power Litany. If you find that the enemy is ripe for Execution, you can swap back to your Chaplain and use Litany of Hate for extra AP.
Also note that there is no need to cast Litanies every turn. Once cast, a Litany continues and consumes -1 WP per turn until you turn it off or until the Chaplain runs out of WP.
Invocation of Focus grants all Knights a 50% chance to gain +1 WP after using Warp Charge, Psybolt, or Force Strike. When upgraded, this litany can trigger with a whopping 75% chance. This allows your team to freely use the strongest version of their attacks without having to worry too much about WP expenditure.
Litany of Hate favors teams that mostly use Stuns to break and execute enemies. It adds +1 and at maximum, can provide an extra +6 AP to all members of the team. This brings the total to ludicrous 7 AP per member in a single turn. Definitely more than enough to wipe out a lot of enemy units in a single turn.
This Litany increases the damage of critical hits. When fully upgraded, this can grant all of your Grey Knights with +5 additional Critical Damage or more or less equal to one extra hit. This makes the Words of Power litany perfect for builds which bank on critical hits to defeat foes.
Want to land critical hits all of the time with your ranged attacks? This Litany grants an additional +15% chance to critical when using ranged attacks. When upgraded, that number rises to +35% chance.
