After being defeated by the Grey Knights, Mortarion recoils at his defeat, blames it on Kadex, and retreats (he does this a lot in the lore). Defeated but not down, Mortarion swears vengeance against the Grey Knights, vowing to unleash another plague in the future.
With the roots destroyed in the final battle, the bloom regresses and everything returns to normal. Lunete reports the plague receding from the systems.
After giving an empowered eulogy and admitting his mistake, Ectar and Lunete agree with the Commander to return to the Grey Knight’s home base, Titan. Finally.
Dead. Sacrificed herself to track down what is causing the Bloom. Inquisitor Vakir gave her soul in exchange for allowing Ectar to track Kadex back to Mortarion, allowing the Grey Knights to contact Kaldor Draigo and plan an assault on Mortarion’s base.
Alive. At the end of the battle, Ectar conversed with Kaldor Draigo and has agreed to deliver the news of the events to the Grand Masters of the Grey Knights. He and the other Grey Knights escaped the warp aboard the Baneful Edict. After reaching real space, he admitted his mistake of not trusting Inquisitor Vakir and acknowledging her inhuman tenacity to two Servitors likely reporting to the Inquisition. Followed the commander back to Titan.
Alive. Still the Dominus of the Baleful Edict. Followed the commander back to Titan.
Alive. Having defeated Mortarion, Kaldor Draigo and the 8 Grey Knights are left inside the Immaterium, in Nurgle’s garden. Kaldor tasked Ectar to report the outcome of the battle to the Grand Masters of the Grey Knights. Will possibly not wander alone as he has his own fellowship of Grey Knights with him now.
Banished? The final battle ends with Mortarion admonishing Kadex for bringing the Grey Knights to the warp. Kadex retorts that he did only what Mortarion wished. We can hear him speak before Mortarion fled the scene. It is possible that he was again “re-purged” by Kaldor Draigo and his retinue of knights.
Aside from finishing the campaign, the game also shows some endings that spell the end of the Baleful Edict or the galaxy itself. After fulfilling the conditions, the game ends with a short cinematic then back to the main menu.
Allow the Bloom to wildly ploriferate across the galaxy to see this ending. In this ending, Valkir, Ectar, and Lunete all lament about their failure to stop the Bloom. Outside the Baleful Edict, numerous Death Guard ships arrive.
To see this ending, reach 0 Hull. This can be done by losing against Death Guard Ships or sustaining damage from events or from going through Warp Storms. In the cinematic, the Baleful Edict is shown to be destroyed by multiple failures. The last shot shows the ship cracking in the middle, lying motionless in space.
